HPB Presents: Kiwi Fruit Tutorial

Ahh, so for today's post I'm joining the monthly HPB link up again and this time the theme is fruits! Last week my design was also fruit based so I pushed myself to find another fruit and well what goes well with strawberries? Bananas... But I didn't have any pastel yellow polish... Kiwi! Yes, so Kiwi is my fruit of choice for this design.

Fail Strawberry Nailart

So I've titled today's nailart a fail as once I had created the design I went back to the source of inspiration, the strawberry, to find my strawberry's had yellow seeds. I think this could easily be redone with yellow as the seeds, so I'll continue to show you what I did to create this look.

After last months failed attempted at joining in I thought I was long over due joining in on one, can you believe the last one I did was in November? This months theme was 'Neutrals and Neons' and here's what I created:

Tiger Gradient Nails

Hello again!

Today I have a little tutorial for a nice take on tiger nails. I have a really nice stamping plate which has a tiger pattern on it, so I chose to use that instead of drawing on the tiger pattern. The plate I used was Wild At Heart by Cheeky, but feel free to use any plate or freehand you would like.

Butterfly Stamping Nail Art

So continuing on with the theme, a caterpillar will eventually turn into a butterfly and as summer start to arrive in England, a butterfly design seemed just right. Here's I've paired two different stamping plates to create this design.

Easy Caterpillar Nail Art

Here is a easy nail art tutorial for you, this simply uses one dotting tool and a tiny little paintbrush. If you don't have a dotting tool it is possible to use the end of a grip for bigger dots and a paintbrush for smaller ones.

Following on from the animal theme, this tutorial is for this little caterpillar.

Sorry about my absence last week, I wasn't too happy with the design I had created and so chose not to post anything. But I am pleased to say that I love this weeks design, although I didn't do a tutorial as my camera was having issues focusing.

There were a few days of warm weather last week and as such I got my hopes up that they'd be more of the sunny weather, then all too quickly the sun has gone away and the rain has set in. Which now makes my nails clash with this awful weather.

Peach and Purple Spring Stamping

I chose to keep this weeks design nice and simple. Just a little use of a stamping plate and I was all done. I paired together a few polishes that felt the right kind of spring vibe, not too sunny and bright, but not too wintery and dark either.

Clairestelle8March Challenge: Mosaic

So many of you taking part in the Clairestelle8 March challenge will realise that this is not the next prompt and that I have in fact missed one. This week has been pretty busy and I just didn't have time to do two designs. But if there is time near the end of the challenge I may go back and do the clothes inspired theme that I missed out, as I did have a clear idea about what I wanted to do.

This design is a quickie, I did it on the sofa while watching tv, so it is definitely one that newbies in nail art can try. I just used three colours, a black polish and base and top coat. As well as a striping brush.

Clairestelle8March Challenge: Sport

This is a day late to what the challenge wanted but it's better late than never. I took inspiration from the Tennis that was broadcast yesterday in England and have set up a little doubles tournament on my nails. Ok. So maybe it's not as active as it could be but all the equipment is there, two rackets and a ball. So you just need to grab some people.

ClaireStelle8March Challenge: Blue

So I finally got myself into gear and prepared to embark on doing another challenge. I always feel apprehensive about doing these as they often have more than one prompt to do each week and for me that is often very hectic, but this month see's in the holiday and so as my university work begins to slow I may be able to squeeze in a design or two more than I would normally. Hence why this is the second design this week already!

Haha, so here it is the first theme is blue and so I created some lovely little Smurfs.

Retro Ubermat Decal

So today will mark my first tutorial using the Ubermat as a way to make decals. I loved making these decals, yes it is time consuming but I do think it is worth it. The design you have the potential to make are so intricate and detailed it just looks so great.

This design took a lot of time, not only because I chose to use so many colours but I also chose to do it on every nail. Talk about a big workload.

Fish in the Ocean

Today's tutorial will be a little spare, I realised I did not take the photos I needed to when creating the design, so a few steps are missing. Hopefully I can talk through them, or point you to a post that does talk through them better. Here is this week's design, all week I've been playing a little fishing game and sort of dedicated my nails to that.

Non-valentines day nails for valentines day!

So I don't really believe in the premise of Valentines Day, while having a day to show your loved one you care is nice and all. But this feels like a thing that should be done every day, not just on the 14th of February. Also everyone seems to 'cash' in on this now trying to get you to buy flowers and chocolate, money doesn't buy love. So this year I am not posting a girly pink, red or heart manicure, but a simple design that just took a few colours and a striping brush. Hope you enjoy.

Alright, so there is a tiny bit of pink in it, but on the whole it is not a valentines day design.

Playing with Vinyls

Hello there!

I realise this post is a little late and the only reason I can come up with is the weather. It has been so miserable lately that I think it has sapped up all my energy. I did my nails at the right time I just haven't written up this post. But now the time has come for that post to be revealed! For today it's a simple vinyl tutorial with some lovely vinyls I bought from SheSellSeaShells. Can I just say before we go on, I'm in love with the store, she stocks loads of vinyl designs as well as odd charms and tools, definitely check it out if you are in the UK, or anywhere else in the world.

Glam Nails: Triangles

So we're nearing the end of the Glam Nails Challenge now and so here's a simple one.

A nice little stamped triangle on the tips of my nails, that almost looks like a leave.

HPB Presents: First Gradient Attempt with the UberMat!

So recently I found a web store that stocks the UberMat in the UK! I was so pleased that I wouldn't have to pay almost what the mat itself costs for shipping that I bought it pretty much immediately. So today is my first play about with it and with the Hobby Polish Bloggers January Link up being gradients I decided to try and create a stamping decal including a gradient.

Glam Nails Challenge: Hot Chocolate

England is currently experiencing a very cold snap, and most places further North have experienced snow recently. Where I am though, all we've had is the cold wind and wet weather. So hot chocolate definitely seems like a good option for the evening. This is also today's prompt for the Glam Nails Challenge.

I thought it would be cute to have mugs of hot chocolate painted on my nails, so that is what I did.

The 4th Theme of the January Glam Nails Challenge is Frozen. This time I chose this to mean the Disney Movie.

I found a picture showing all the main characters and got to work at creating their outfits on my nails.

Glam Nails Challenge: Plaid

For today's design I went with a simple black and red style plaid. Using three polishes and a thin brush I created this design.

Glam Nails Challenge: Paisley

Prompt number two for this month's Glam Nails Challenge, which is paisley. I wasn't looking forward to this prompt as I think of paisley as intricate and detailed, two things I'm not very good at.

Overall I went with a plain black and white theme, almost like a colouring book.

Glam Nail Challenge: New Year Nails

So as the year starts many people have goals to be more active and live a healthier lifestyle. Although I don't completely agree with this, feeling obliged to make these resolutions just because everyone else is will inevitably end in disappointment when you finally find yourself breaking the resolutions you created, I do think encouraging those who really are committed to keeping these goals can only be a good thing. Surrounding yourself in positivity will encourage happiness in yourself and those you meet.

So inkeeping with the getting active theme I took out my BM-173 plate, one from their active range and stamped a clustering of designs.
